Why You Need Charcoal In Your Diet And Recipes To Make With It

I love things that help me detox to keep my body healthy and balanced; so say hello to activated charcoal. This stuff is the real deal!

I’m not talking about the charcoal in your barbecue, please never ingest that. This is activated charcoal. It doesn’t have any of those harsh chemicals or toxins; it’s heated in order to give its power. Basically, it works by trapping toxins and then being flushed out of your body.

Benefits Of Charcoal

Reduces Gas and Bloating

This is probably the main reason I use activated charcoal.  Taking 500mg before a meal helps to bind the gas released from foods that builds up in your digestive tract (think beans). You’ll also need to drink a full glass of water with the charcoal to make sure it’s effective (don’t forget this step!).

Whitens your Teeth

Yes, get those pearly whites even whiter! You can use it to whiten your teeth! Dip your toothbrush into some activated charcoal and brush your teeth for 2-3 minutes. (Caution: this can get messy.) Plus, doing this two to three times a week can help balance the pH in your mouth and prevent bad breath!

Gives You Clear and Glowing Skin

Using activated charcoal on your skin can help clear up acne and give you a glowing complexion. It acts like a magnet, attracting dirt and oil and absorbing it. Then, it washes away when you rinse your face. Say hello to clear and refined pores!

Anti-aging

I don’t mean your skin, I mean your body. Activated charcoal helps to prevent cellular damage to your kidneys, adrenal glands, and liver. It also helps reduce the toxic load on your body from eating nonorganic food and heavy metal exposure.

So, now that you know why it’s so great, you need to know how to use it. Below are recipes for a refreshing lemonade and a face mask using activated charcoal!
